We’re committed to the well-being of animals in our supply chain and believe that proper animal care practices are based on science and ethical obligations and values. This belief stems from our responsibility to our customers and the environment which is stated in our CR Principles.
While we don’t raise animals or own or operate processing facilities, we’re dedicated to ethically sourcing our meat, poultry, dairy and egg products. We want to work with suppliers who share this commitment and understand we will not tolerate animal abuse or neglect throughout our supply chain.
To that end, we established the ALDI Animal Welfare Policy that applies to all beef, pork, poultry, egg and dairy products and non-food products like textiles, bedding, health and beauty products, cleaners and detergents. This policy outlines several efforts including our support for eliminating tail docking, prohibiting our suppliers from using mulesing for merino wool products and more. We are also transitioning to cage free eggs by 2025, based on available supply, affordability, regulatory changes and consumer demand and will continue to partner with suppliers who share these values
