We aim to increase our energy efficiency while minimizing our ecological footprint across our entire business. In close cooperation with architects, planning engineers and construction companies, we implement innovative technology to constantly reduce the climatic and environmental impacts of our stores, distribution centers, and corporate administration buildings.
Featured Project
One of the biggest ways we can reduce the energy use in our day-to-day is by taking care of our refrigeration systems (our biggest energy user!). We do this through things like keeping doors closed and taking action on alarms quickly!
Over 150 stores are testing a new “smart” remote refrigeration monitoring system that alerts the team when temperatures are too cold or too warm, walk-in doors have been kept open too long, or if there is a potential refrigerant leak. By catching these early, we’re saving energy used by electricity and heating while protecting our environment from large refrigerant leaks.
