We’re proud to partner with several nonprofit organizations to encourage and promote opportunities for kids to live healthy, happy and productive lives. Learn more about our key partners below.
Action for Healthy Kids
Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK) encourages healthy, active lifestyles for students, teachers and family members in our communities across the U.S. Funding from ALDI provides support for schools to implement health and wellness practices that help students eat better and be physically active.
Initiatives are wide-ranging across elementary, middle and high schools and may include refurbishing outdoor play spaces, piloting school gardens, implementing farm-to-school programs, hosting fitness and nutrition classes, purchasing physical activity equipment and implementing before- and after- school fitness programs.
Every year during the last week of April, ALDI sponsors Every Kid Healthy™ Week with AFHK. This event shines a spotlight on the great efforts schools are making to improve the health and wellness of their students while having fun and linking nutrition, physical activity and learning — because healthy kids are better prepared to learn!
ALDI is also proud to partner with the National PTA in conjunction with AFHK to support Parents for Healthy Kids, an online resource that connects parents and caregivers and gives them the tools they need to become effective change agents in kids’ schools and at home. The site provides an online community forum, school grants, trainings and more.
ALDI has a longstanding partnership with Feeding America and is proud to be one of the organization’s Leadership Partners. We recognize that not having enough healthy food can have serious implications for child’s physical, emotional and mental health. This leads to a challenges to stay on pace with education requirements and positive peer social interactions.
All of our stores are partnered with a local Feeding America member food bank to make it easier for them to donate overstock, short-dated items or products with lightly damaged packaging to address food insecurity in our communities. We also provide funding to support local food banks to help them improve their ability to store, process and provide more quality food to those that are in need. This may include things like helping them purchase or repair refrigeration and/or freezer units, new shelving or containers for volunteers to transport items safely from our stores to the food banks.
In partnership with Feeding America, we also organize volunteer events for our employees to pack disaster relief boxes to support individuals and families displaced from their homes due to natural disasters.
March of Dimes
March of Dimes believes it is important for every baby to get the best possible start in life. Through their work in communities across the U.S., the March of Dimes plays a vital role in improving maternal and child health. ALDI is proud to support this organization’s initiatives to educate moms on health and wellness to prevent premature births. The March of Dimes Prematurity Campaign aims to reduce premature birth in the U.S. and give every baby a fair chance for a healthy full-term birth.
