Forests are an essential natural resource, filtering the water we drink and the air we breathe. Forests also provide shelter to some of the world’s most endangered species and supply the world with a range of products. Responsibly managed forests are key to the future of our planet. Unfortunately, forests can be improperly managed and may even be cleared for growing other crops. We’re committed to responsibly sourcing our wood, paper products and other resources in a way that supports sustainable forest management.

As part of this commitment, all of our advertising materials are certified as sustainable by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). We’re also evaluating opportunities to increase the amount of sustainable forestry material we source in our everyday paper products, like bath and facial tissue, napkins and paper plates. Our goal is to source all products with wood and paper components from responsibly managed forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certificate (PEFC) or the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) by the end of 2020. Over 70 percent of our paper products are certified according to one of these standards and can be easily identified by labels on the packaging.

Palm oil production is also a critical contributor to global deforestation. To read more about our actions on this topic see the Palm Oil section.
