ALDI Cares Community Grants

ALDI is a part of the community. Responsibility means making a positive contribution to the community by supporting nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving Children’s Health & Wellness and combating Food Insecurity. For organizations whose mission or core programs meet these pressing issues head on, ALDI provides financial contributions and donations of products or gift cards.

Through ALDI Cares Community Grants, we partner with nonprofit organizations that make a positive impact on Children’s Health & Wellness and Food Insecurity while supporting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs. Whether your mission is to support children through education, arts, athletics or addressing food insecurity in your local community, we encourage you to apply for support from ALDI Cares Community Grants.

Whether your mission is to support children through education, arts, athletics or addressing food insecurity in your local community, we encourage you to apply for support from ALDI Cares Community Grants.


No, all organizations must use the ALDI Cares Community Grants online portal to submit an application. Requests submitted outside the online portal will not be considered for support.


Email us with your inquiry at giving@aldi.us. This email is checked regularly, and you’ll usually receive a response within a few business days. Questions regarding your organization’s status or availability within YourCause should be directed to YourCause.

 

 

Eligibility Questions


 ALDI only supports 501(c)(3) organizations as well as K-12 public and private schools and churches that serve the community at large, regardless of community members’ religious affiliation.
 


Yes! ALDI will review all 501(c)(3) nonprofit requests, regardless of how long they’ve been operating.


No. ALDI does not fund organizations with a pending 501(c)(3) status. Only organizations that are verified with a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) designation, as determined by the Internal Revenue Service, are eligible to receive donations.
 


No. ALDI Cares Community Grants is only for nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations as well as K-12 public and private schools and churches that serve the community. It does not provide support to individuals or families.     


You can apply for support on an annual basis, or once per calendar year.


No. Due to the high volume of requests ALDI receives, we can only accept one application per organization.


No, all organizations must serve people directly within our communities.


Yes. All support is valid for one year only and must be requested annually.


ALDI accepts applications between February 1st – December 15th each year.


Every year, we evaluate ways to ensure to ALDI Cares Community Grants is making the largest impacts in our core focus areas, and sometimes this means organizations that previously qualified are no longer eligible. While we wish we could support all organizations that apply, the grant program will continue to remain focused on our core focus areas.

 

 

Application Questions


 After you submit your request online, you’ll receive a confirmation email. After our team reviews your request, you’ll receive a response from ALDI via email on the status of your request.    


All unused support must be returned to ALDI unless permission is given to use it for another purpose.  


We review all applications thoroughly and will do our best to respond to you in a timely manner. You can always check the status of your application through the online portal.   


We strongly recommend attaching your IRS exemption letter to your application; however, it is not required.


We recommend submitting your most recent W-9; however, it is not required.

If you have any additional collateral materials that you think will strengthen your proposal, you may attach the documents to the application. Please do not send attachments by email.


 We strongly prefer PDF documents for all attachments, especially for Excel spreadsheets, but all file formats are accepted.
 


No, we don’t need copies of your request. Any additional information you’d like to share with us should be submitted with your request as an attachment.
 


No, ALDI only accepts applications through ALDI Cares Community Grants. Mailed applications will not be considered.

 

 

Support Questions


We support local organizations in ALDI communities where we have stores, warehouses, offices and conduct business, with a primary focus on improving Children’s Health & Wellness, and Food Insecurity while supporting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs.


Yes! ALDI may support events in our communities. The organization holding or supporting the event must fall under our funding areas of Children’s Health & Wellness and Food Insecurity while supporting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Please submit any requests for event support at least eight weeks prior to event.


Applicants may request either cash or ALDI gift cards. You can request your preferred funding type through the online application.


 ALDI partners with food banks in the Feeding America network to donate food products that are still safe to eat but are outside of our “sell by” parameters. We don’t donate this product to individuals or organizations who aren’t members of Feeding America.


  • Children’s Health & Wellness: Organizations and causes focused on improving the physical, social, and emotional wellbeing of youth, 0-18, through education, arts, athletics, or out of school programming
  • Food Insecurity: Addressing lack of consistent access to quality nutritious foods for a healthy and active lifestyle through a nation-wide partnership with Feeding America
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Organizations committed to breaking down systemic barriers, increasing access to equitable opportunities, scholarship assistance, and tracking long-term change

ALDI approves requests for gift cards or donations ranging in value from $250 to $5,000. 


We make every effort to support as many organizations as possible. Sometimes this means we are only able to provide a portion of the funds requested.
 


No, ALDI provides support once per year. Organizations are encouraged to only request funds for one year.
